Indeed…the FUN in functional…

Truly…I think we do have a good bit of fun during these workouts. And the group setting combines the pressure to push when you’re feeling on with the grace to take an interval or two off if the day just isn’t your strongest.

MJ regularly mixes them up, too, and even offers a surprise extra set once in awhile to keep us honest.

Hope to see some of you soon!

Looks great. I’m GMT timezone so hopefully I get a gap in work some time to jump in.

I’m intrigued, so a few questions.

When doing the session is it tailored to your profile?
Done in ERG mode?
How does the scoring work?
And Chrome is better than the Windows APP?

Hey @Pablo_ie

When you join a Live session,
the workout is tailored to your profile, ie. your target power is based on your power profile. However, the session structure may differ from what your training plan is asking for.
We go over the session in the beginning of the workout and I will advice how you can change it to better fit your training plan. For example, if the workout is 3x8x30/30, and your plan is asking for 2 or 3 times 6, you can skip the last two repeats and enjoy a little bit longer recovery. There are many ways to skin the cat, and I am happy to help you adjust according to your individual plan.
Yes, we may deviate a little from individual plans, but these sessions are truly a great way to push yourself a little further. We always encourage to individualize and never take it too deep into hurt locker… “leave one or two” in the tank, as @Prof always say.

ERG mode can be great for Strength Endurance sessions, but I would advice not to use ERG mode for HIIT sessions.

Scoring is based on how well you stay within your target power/cadence or both - depending on the workout that I have set. It adds to the fun factor, and anyone can climb to the top of the leaderboard - not just the one who can push big power.

Our experience is that Velocity is working well on Chrome browser on a laptop or desktop, or with iPad. I have not used the windows app, so can’t say.

I do recommend coming early (the lounge opens 30mins before start of the workout to make sure you are connected and everything is working. I typically show up a little early for extra warm up and can help out connecting etc.) .

Hope this helps, and hope to see you next week!

Thursday January 16th 8:30am CT:

3 x 9 x 30s/30s Short VO2max intervals.

Note, the lounge opens 30mins prior to workout, and I highly recommend showing up early to iron out any connection issues before we start. Wheels rolling 8:30 am sharp.

Don’t worry if your Athletica training plan is asking for a different number of sets and repeats, I will advice you to alter this workout and I will keep an eye on you all, and ask you to skip a repeat if I see you struggling.

Remember, we always want to leave these sessions feeling like we could have done 1 or 2 more.
Honestly, sometimes one set is all good too, depending on your overall training load, life stress, sleep etc. We never want to tank ourselves with these powerful intervals.

Any questions you may have, please hit that Reply button below

See you all Thursday!
MJ
PS. These will be set to Replay so if you miss Live session, you can always do them later and “pretend” you were there with us!
