We’ve noticed some confusion around the daily availability settings, so here’s a quick clarification to help you get the best possible plan.
1. Duathlon plans
Duathlon plans include running and cycling.
Strength training is included only in mid- or high-volume plans.
You will not get swimming or rowing in a duathlon plan—there’s no need to block those activities.
2. Rowing (important!)
You will not get rowing if you’re on a triathlon, cycling, running, or duathlon plan . You will not get swimming if you are on a duathlon, hyrox, cycling, or running plan.
This is expected behavior.
You do not need to specify “I don’t want rowing”—doing so only adds unnecessary constraints.
3. How to use Daily Availability correctly
Think in terms of training days vs. rest days .
If you want a day off, select “Rest Day.”
Do not use “I don’t want this activity” to indicate rest.
On training days, leave activities open unless you have a specific reason to request one (e.g. fixed swim days with a swim team).
Bottom line:
Fewer constraints = better plan quality and more flexibility. Let the plan builder do the heavy lifting.
If something in your plan still looks off after this, please let us know via support@athletica.ai—we’re happy to help
We will work on improving communication on the Weekly schedule settings.
Hi, my plan has no sense days as in attachment: too much workout in a day. How I can fix? I’m training for a marathon on 26th of april (B) and IM70.3 on 7th of June (A),
For your last question about long runs, two things:
You won’t see your true week-before-marathon plan until you get closer, as what you’re seeing now reflects your CURRENT fitness, and that week will adjust over time as you improve fitness.
You also won’t get a traditional “long run” leading up to a marathon, as a) those tend to increase risk of injury and b) the total load of the weeks leading up will more than prepare you to handle the load of a full marathon. It’s a different approach but the results are being proven by Athletica athletes as we go! @SoCal1x might want to chime in on this, he had the same questions but followed the plan and the load was plenty w/o a longer run.
For your first topic about daily sessions, what are your settings for hours per week, and how much have you been training? And what goals did you set for your A and B races, e.g. finish or PR etc.? The algorithm may see that you’ve been handling good load and that you want to PR, and sees a lot of training in your hours per week, and be filling them up to help hit your goal. But if not, it may be a bug. It does look like a lot, but is hard to say w/o more detail so LMK!
Thanks for your reply. For daily sessions in Athletica I’ve selected the mid volume option and I’m pretty sure my weekly hours slider is similar to what you see in the screenshot I attached, with relatively high limits on the weekend that may be driving the big load those days. Over the last seasons I’ve logged more than 460 hours of training with Athletica, so the algorithm probably “trusts” that I can handle a fairly solid load when my maximum weekly hours are set high. With the new release, though, I’m currently not able to set race goals like “PR” only specify detailed A/B race performance targets anymore, so that part of the behavior may be down to the updated goal interface rather than my settings, and could even be a small bug if it keeps overshooting my hours despite the profile setup
Yeah, seems like it’s mostly on track with your availability, but does seem to be applying a too-high load. I’ve noticed my own plan started prescribing too much as well with the new release. Think about logging a ticket at support.athletica.ai (the more screenshots the better), but do be patient as they are working on quite a few things still!
Personally, I am about to try creating a new plan, choosing low volume, as a short-term workaround knowing I can go longer by feel.
Thanks for the info and details, let me know if you log a ticket and what you try in the meantime!
Hey
Did you log a ticket on this already. I think I’ve seen your settings, but then again, I’ve seen hundreds the past few days so could be mistaken.
First, the team is shopping a new update on the plan builder today, so if your plan is not to your liking, please have a new go at building it.
Second, what happens when you restrict weekday availability on medium volume (12-16hrs), which in your case is quite tight, leaving at least 5hrs to be completed during the weekend. The second adjustment I would make is to not have sliders for the weekend as you are effectively asking for 6hrs per day and you are getting what you asked for. I understand you only have 90 mins each day (good on you to carve out that time), but from the programming side, it caps the load → and to keep you progressing toward your best possible fitness on race day, we need to put more load on you during the weekend. It’s tricky to balance all the restrictions and goals
We are working on communicating how to use the plan builder better to avoid some of the common misunderstandings.
I would release the hour sliders for the weekend to start with.
Thanks for the help! My job makes my weekly availability very inconsistent
AI-Coach Logic: Is it better to manually communicate my availability weekly to AI-Coach and can I set everything to ‘Auto’? Since I have 460+ hours of data, will the AI correctly calculate my daily hours on its own?
