Six Days in the Dome @Aet results
532 KM! amazing Aet, congratulations!
I’m sure we will get a race report once you’ve recovered.
You’re a badass!
I’m pretty sure she is still racing! She is in the 10 day race!!!

that is beyond mental and physical toughness; amazing
Sorry @Aet I thought it was six days, but you are still going like an unstoppable train! ![]()
Unbelievable show of perseverance!
Thank you all for support! This was fun
I think I was fit and healthy which helped the most. My final result of ten days was 737.011 km. I cannot see how I could have done better or differently. I didn’t make any mistakes. How often we can say that?
It was so nice to meet @SimpleEnduranceCoach who brought me big socks and non-alcoholic beer. Guess, why the socks! I enjoyed being able to run relaxed. Only one nasty small blister on the tip of my small toe ruined my day or two. I could still keep moving in my Fivefingers shoes which accommodated the blistered toe but offered zero cushion. The surface was rubber covered concrete. On my final hours I ran in those shoes like there is no tomorrow. My last km was the fastest of the race. I had the coolest sprint finish ever!
I already asked AI coach for suggestions for the next month. Very normal and believable advice. Mostly sleeping and eating. No running for 2-3 weeks. Light movement only. Then slowly coming back.
For the future success I think I have to improve my speed for the waking hours. Because I cannot decrease sleeping time even more. I don’t function well with less sleep. I slept 3-4 hour every night plus short naps during the day. Advice from my boyfriend who won the ten day race: if you feel sleepy, run faster. True. I was much sleepier when I was walking. Practiced sleep-walking. Not good at that.
Since the race took place in a ice hall, it was little different than normal races. Sleepiness + cold was the biggest challenge. But! No inflamed feet during the race! No muscle pain. Only normal awful foot pain from overuse ![]()
It was great to meet you and support you in a small way! You are so inspirational. Great work running 730km!!
Not only walking
I mostly tried to run.
Congrats, and what an experience for you.
This is from ultra cycling so might not cross over. If you find yourself closing your eyes, having micro dozes. Stop, take on some caffeine either directly in coffee or a pill. Not a large dose, about 50mg. Then lie down and close your eyes for about 20 mins. When you get up, your alertness is back with the caffeine having kicked in. It wears off after about 5.5 hours for me.
I would not keep doing that , but sometimes outdoors you need to keep going till you reach a safe place for a longer stop / sleep.
I have often analysed ultra events after, and not stopping is often a false economy, as you end up going so slow and micro dozes are a safety issue outdoors.
Also agree that 3-4 hours sleep is about the minimum during multi day ultras, if you are to keep functioning at the same level.
The AI coach is also right. The deep fatigue soon catches up with you after. Rest and recovery well.
Congratulations- that is pretty incredible! Well done!
