Hi everyone, after a seriously fun yet butt-kicking live HIIT bike trainer workout with several Athletica peeps this morning, I wanted to remind you that we have easy (and affordable) access to a cool workout tool: Velocity.
Most of you are familiar, but just a reminder that:
- Through the Athletica/Velocity partnership, it’s only $5/mo on top of your Athletica membership! (usually $20/mo standalone)
- It works with pretty much any bike trainer, rollers, HR strap, etc. You can use in in browser, via iPad app, or computer app.
- Your weekly workouts, Critical Power, and even workout reserve all push to and from Athletica pretty seamlessly! It’s well integrated and supports your dynamic plan.
- And last but not least, the biggest draw for me: a group of us work out together live each week with MJ and Prof and Paul W and more! (Let’s be honest, I personally wouldn’t push as hard, or some mornings, even show up for my workout, if not for their friendly pain faces and encouragement.)
Let me address the elephant in the room: most of you use Zwift, or Rouvy, or TR, or others., and honestly I get it! My personal hurdle was the perceived “conflict” of having both Zwift and Velocity and how to choose…but there is space and rewards with both types! For group stuff, and tricky intervals, Velocity. For entertainment when riding solo, racing, points/drops/leveling up, virtual worlds, I go to Zwift and you may go to TR, Rouvy, etc.
They both connect to Strava too so proof it happened ![]()
TL;DR: for just $5/mo more, you get in-person social connections, access to Prof and MJ in person, great conversations around training and FAQs and so many other other things, replays if you miss the live session, your own Athletica planned workouts on demand, and shared pain faces.
