What to do for holiday/vacation?

Hey everyone, I’m looking for your opinions!

In 2026 I have my first 70.3 in August, a sprint tri n June and in May I have an Olympic distance tri and a 130km cycle etape.

But before race season starts, I will be spending 2 lovely weeks in Japan in April. I won’t have my bike or access to a pool; what would you do?

I will take my running gear and run as much as I can, and there will be a lot of walking!

Would you relax and take a couple of weeks to just enjoy the trip, or add extra runs to replace the missed swim and bike sessions?

Thanks!

I would bring the running shoes and explore some of Japan by foot! Get in runs when you can to keep your fitness firing - although a week off is not going to hurt anything. But the chance to explore through running is a great opportunity and could be a lot of fun. Don’t be a slave to the running, though. Run when it fits into your schedule; otherwise, just enjoy the trip and get in lots of walks.

100% what @SimpleEnduranceCoach said. Enjoy Japan by foot, run when you feel like it and don’t stress about training. It will most likely do you better than stress about trying to keep it up. You can also move a recovery week(s) for those travel days in your roadmap.
