I’ve been around multisport and tri for 15y or so and a TR user for 6 years. I don’t trust that platform anymore as the new ftp detection feature seems weird to me.
Anyway I’m considering switching entirely to Ai.
What I am still doubtful is the capacity of the app to switch between different plan and sport.
For instance, next season I have in mind some grand fondo like, some tri and maybe a half or full marathon.
With athletica can one have only bike or run wo for a periodos time, 6/8weeks, then a tri period with 3 sports and so on…
Also what about testing and how progress are measured in the app?
Welcome back. Switched to Athletica few years ago after being coached by coaches and being disappointed in tridot.
I have done both cycling events and HD races in a season and I think it worked setting various goals. You can always adjust trainings as you want and ai will adjust other trainings.
does that answer your question? Or do you have more specific questions? It was not completely clear to me.
Hi @TDI I will give you a bit of insight of how I have used Athletica. I have used the platform for 3 years now and it has evolved immensely. I will keep it simple as there are many new features that you may or may not be aware of. Athletica is very adaptable for multi sport usage. I have completed full distance triathlon, T100 (using 70.3 plan) half marathon (added myself as a long run) on the build up to full distance events. I have competed in long distance sportive and shorter distance races. You can add or remove sessions based on discussions with the all new AI coach (has better responses from the old AI coach). Note- the AI Coach and the training platform are separate systems, but the AI coach can analyse your training plan and give advice. You need to be cautious of replies sometimes as like all AI (it gets it wrong sometimes) so I challenge the reply asking for a rationale for its reply! Regarding testing. You can add a test week whenever you feel the need. Do not skip a test week if you rejoin. This is important data as it is your baseline for future sessions. There is a system where Athletica will recommend updating your thresholds. This is for swim, bike run, row or whatever your modality is. You can choose to reject the update based on how you feel about it, or if you carry injuries/have health issues. Each session will be analysed by the AI coach. This is your opportunity to discuss progress and if the coach would advise a retest week or manually updating your thresholds based on your performance of that session. And for the best bit, there is a new dashboard which is all singing and dancing if you are into stats. New analysis charts showing progress and you can also check in on what energy systems you have used during your training. Also a new upgraded Workout Wizard provides the chance for you to change sessions, whilst keeping your training load in check. I use this if I am tired or my numbers are dipping into the red and fatigue is getting the better of me! If you have any other questions, I will try and answer. I know other Athletica users who might help you with specific marathon training. They have competed successfully by integrating the training alongside full distance/70.3 training and would be better versed to answer that question. Hopefully we see you back with the platform at some point!
Hi @Giuseppe85 , depending what I need to achieve my overall goal for the week and keep my recovery in check. My first port of call is ask my AI coach the question - example… I am not feeling very strong today and I had an awful sleep last night and I have a double workout of a VO2 Max HIIT 30/30 and a Speed session Swim - Can you have a look at my recovery metrics and advise what I should do as I dont want to compromise my overall fitness or training load. AI coach will then advise what to change by either selecting one of the Workout Wizard sessions or selecting a session from the global library if nothing is suitable using Workout Wizard. I add these then delete the original session. Another way (if you dont have access to your phone or laptop or no time to change original session) I would do what I can with the original session and explain why the session was short to AI coach or why I didn’t hit the targets. Sometimes I chose just to do an aerobic session rather than a HIIT or fast/speed/tempo session, but explain in my feedback why. The numbers will always catch up and you can keep track of your fitness fatigue HRV etc using the INSIGHTS dropdowns. Hope that helps
Love this conversation! I really feel like Athletica has stabilized since earlier this year and become a critical tool for me, and am LOVING the interactions with the AI Coach!
I can’t wait for AI Coach to be able to edit sessions directly from our chats, but in the meantime I’m doing the same as @KCamp: chat with AI Coach and then either edit, workout wizard, or delete sessions as discussed and it’s working perfectly.
FWIW, I also have a Health Agent (need to name it hah) that I built externally with all my medical history, medications, surgeries, injuries, imaging and test results, and Athletica history, and will run the Athletica weekly through that for a finer perspective of the planned week against my individualized heart health or current injuries etc.. It’s worked well to occasionally provide AI Coach with a handoff file from the Health Agent and vice versa. YMMV, it can be scary to have your info in an LLM, but it’s been incredibly helpful in my case.
@kimberg to add to your “health agent” dont forget about the “nutrition agent” .. This has been ever so helpful, especially getting my nutrition on point for the long bike and runs! Also if I ever come up against something that doesn’t look right (glitch) due to calendar edits (which I am famous for, due to a hectic work schedule) AI coach critiques the platform explaining what went wrong and how to fix it. Or worst case scenario - tells me to raise a support ticket! Agree regarding the future when AI coach can make automatic edits. For now, I am happy being taught, as it educates you on the what, why and how-to.
Haha love this! Yes, I have it working on nutrition too, it even made me do an updated sweat test! Helped me land on a more ideal fueling approach that I’m loving.
You can read about hos I adapted my cycling single day alrounder plan for ultra cycling.
The other feature I use is the AI Conversational Coach to blunce ideas or ask questions. Recently I asked it about managing dehydration as we hsve had an extended heatwave in the UK and Europe. The checklist is direct outout from the AI conversational coach.
