Exciting Leadership Updates at Athletica

Hi everyone,

I know I’ve been a bit quiet these past few months, and I wanted to share what’s been happening behind the scenes.

First, a big thank you to @Marjaana , who’s been managing most of your questions and keeping things running smoothly. I’m also excited to share that she’s officially stepped into the role of Athletica’s COO, strengthening how we lead and operate as a team.

Here’s a look at what’s been going on:

  1. Leadership transition: With @MarkB moving from CEO to Chair of our Board, I’ve been working more closely with the team to guide us through this next phase of growth.

  2. App overhaul: Our data showed that while Athletica’s science was solid, the experience needed a full refresh. We’ve completely rebuilt the UI/UX — and the new version, now being tested by two user groups, is receiving fantastic feedback. It’s clean, modern, and up there with the best platforms in the space. Stay tuned for the official rollout.

  3. New team members: We’ve added @MarquinaStagg, a primary care physician turned marketing strategist, and @hdudleyrode, a sport scientist turned AI designer. Their hybrid skills are helping us refine both message and experience.

  4. Athletica U: With support from the team, I’ve developed and delivered Athletica U — a new education series designed for everyday athletes. Certificate 1 includes 18 short, practical lectures (delivered by yours truly) built right into the app to help you understand the why behind your training.

  5. Coaching community: Our HIIT Science Coaching Group has grown rapidly into one of the most active spaces in the training community. Coaches seeking collaboration and support can join here: https://www.skool.com/hiit-science.

  6. Ambassador call: We’ll soon open applications for a new round of Athletica Ambassadors. If you’re passionate about what we’re building, watch for @Marjaana’s announcement in the coming days.

  7. Global momentum: I’ve recently returned from presentations with several Olympic organizations around the world, all eager to integrate Sports Science 3.0 principles into their programs. It’s clear that Athletica is poised to play a leading role in this next evolution of sport science and AI-assisted coaching.

  8. New CEO: Finally, I’m thrilled to announce that @Landshark, Simon Essl, is moving into the role as Athletica’s new CEO. From co-founding Carmichael Training Systems and bringing SRM power meters to the U.S., to leading SaaS businesses at scale, Simon brings deep expertise in performance sport and technology. He’s now preparing to lead our team into the future with our next funding round. So if you’re an accredited investor or know someone who may want to join this journey, please reach out to Simon or me directly.

Thanks, as always, for being part of the Athletica community. Big things ahead.

— Paul

Congratulations to all individuals with new, better, more important jobs
And congratulations to the whole team for the supposed big move forward!

Now, is there an option to see/test the updates to UI or two learn about them more specifically on short notice? I am considering to change to the annual plan as long as the available discount lasts, but am wondering about the app I will in fact be subscribing too?

NB: I also do have a “free” tymewear app subscription for the next year, use intervals.icu for all my analysis, and currently mostly use atheltica to guide my self-coaching (it’s not good/flexible enough for me/my schedule to fully serve as “full coach” right now:-o)
