Sync with Garmin - change workout metric?

Hey team,

Really loving the new update - in v1 I used to use the “sync to garmin” to change how my workout was prescribed, I.E. via Heart Rate vs Pace, or Power vs Heartrate when on traininer.

Is this something that is no longer possible, or is there a more efficient way to accomplish this?

Thanks!

Ex. Here I would prefer to run at HR (133-153) instead of pace as, but clicking “Garmin sync complete - Resync?” doesn’t prompt for changes!

Thanks all

You can tell your Garmin connection to send it by HR or Pace in your devices & apps under account → Garmin → configure.
Also re-sync to Garmin should be available. If you are not seeing it please send me a message at support@athletica.ai and I will investigate.

Thanks,
MJ

@Marjaana - does this mean in the new UI, we would need to change our Garmin configuration whenever we want HR vs power and vice versa?

I ask becuase I sync my aerobic rides by HR and my interval rides (30/30’s) by power. It sounds like now the Garmin settings would need to be manually changed to make that swap?

Edited to Add:
It looks like you cannot pick a preference of HR or power without enabling auto sync as well?

Hey @mcle1990
No, if you choose AI Coach, all aerobic sessions will be sent by HR and anything above zone 3 will be sent by Power(bike) or Pace(running).
You don’t want us to automatically sent your workouts? Please help me understand why, so we can evaluate if this is something we need to provide in the future?

@Marjaana Coach MJ,

Is that Zone 3 and above being sent by power for bike or anything higher than Zone 3 being sent by power? I thought it was 3 and above, so I just wanted to check for clarification.

Thanks!

Forrest

Thanks for the clarification, MJ! Appreciate it.

For not wanting all workouts automatically sent to my device - correct, I have always downloaded them individually from Athletica as needed for a few reasons. The short of it is, having every workout sent to my devices clogs them up and adds time for me to go in regularly and delete workouts when I do not use most of them. I initially used the automatically send feature when I joined Athletica and for the past year have had that functionality off.

For example, during winter, I may download a majority to Zwift and only need 1 or 2 (or none) sent to my Garmin device in a given week.

During nicer months, I’ll use only the more structured workouts (i.e. threshhold or 30/30’s) on my device and workouts such as aerobic I don’t need the actual workout on my device - I’ll just go out and ride and watch my HR.

It’s a small sample size, but I know my partner also uses the platform in this manner if that is at all helpful.
