70.3, 26.2, 140.6 - Am I crazy? - Familiar triathlete, lofty goals?

These are my goals:

My history.

Multiple uneventful Half Marathons inconsistently, fun 10ks and 5ks for social events etc.

70.3 Florida (Haines City) (2024)

70.3 Augusta (2025)

I’m prepping to get back in the saddle perse and really want to give the full Ironman a go.

Admittedly I have let my training come to a halt after Augusta last year:

(2025)

(2026)

Now the question I have is how much run volume I should be aiming for before my Marathon in January.

I am signed up and committed to it, but also want to get a 70.3 in this year, and prep for a 140.6 in 2027.

I fear athletica may not be preparing me for the 26.2 as I have all Tri training scheduled leading up.. should I drop the Ironman in my goals so I can focus on running, or will the multi-discipline work get me to the finish line and progressing into 2027?

Thanks

Hi @YellowCube ,

I like your ambition! My 2s. Stick with your middle distance triathlon build through October. That race gives you the aerobic base you’ll need when you turn your attention to the marathon. After some recovery, potentially switch your Athletica plan to run focus, by declaring yourself a runner in your plan builder settings, and set the Walt Disney World race in January as your A race. The program will handle the volume progression from there.

Don’t stress about what the numbers look like right now. Athletica adapts to what you actually do, so the plan you see today won’t be the plan you’re running in November. As we often say here, trust the process and it pays off.

Once the marathon’s done, flip back to triathlete mode and start the full build.

While you plan is indeed ambitious, you’ve got the time, so use it.
