Completed workout has wrong time and date data

I’m trying out the program and am in my test week. I completed yesterday’s (Mon 28th) two sessions, one on my Garmin Forerunner and one on my Garmin Edge and they both synced without issue.
I hopped on the bike this morning, did today’s MAF test which had uploaded to my Edge and it’s saved as having been started on Monday 28th at 8:42pm, rather than Tuesday 29th at 8:30am. This means it hasn’t registered as my MAF workout, just as an unplanned ride yesterday.
The workout was on the same bike computer and synced using the same phone as yesterday’s session which uploaded correctly, so I’m at a loss as to how the time and date have been assigned incorrectly.
How do I fix it and how do I stop it happening again?

Hi @pmcelhone ,
This issue is likely tied to a time or date setting either on the Garmin device itself or through Garmin Connect, rather than anything directly within Athletica. Sometimes if the device time isn’t fully synced (e.g., after a firmware update, a manual time zone setting, or a missed GPS signal), the session can be saved with the wrong timestamp, leading to exactly the behavior you’re seeing.

To fix it for this workout:
Unfortunately, once Garmin has stamped the activity time, Athletica reads it as-is during sync. You may be able to manually adjust the activity date/time inside Garmin Connect (via the website), or alternatively, you could delete the workout from Athletica (it will stay safely in your Garmin history) and manually mark the planned MAF session as “Completed” with an RPE and any comments you like.

To prevent it from happening again:

  • Double-check that your Garmin device is set to automatically sync time via GPS.
  • Ensure your phone and Garmin Connect app are both set to the correct local time zone.
  • Sometimes restarting the Garmin device after syncing ensures it fully resets its clock if there were any recent updates or changes.

Hi Prof,
Thanks for getting back to me. The Garmin device was used successfully to upload to Athletica from another indoor ride 12 before this and I didn’t see anything to indicate a firmware update in progress. The timestamp is also correct in Garmin Connect.
Regardless of cause, it’s incredibly frustrating that so early into my trial I’m encountering seemingly insurmountable data problems.
Knowing that the data fed into the AI is erroneous, and that I have absolutely no way to correct it
seems to undermine the whole point of using AI in the first place. Whatever value it has surely relies on having the best data available. In the meantime, although I have that data, I know that what I get out of the model will be at best incomplete, at worst plain wrong.
I’d very much like to believe that this system is going to help me train more effectively, but this isn’t an auspicious start.
