I’d love to hear his views on what he thinks of the Athletica cycling plans, and what he would change (if anything) based on his latest thinking.
My other question would be on health and what kind of changes in lipid profiles from blood work have been seen with his methods? Things such as LDL levels etc.
I understand the value of the MAF formula to keep the majority of your runs in the easy zone, and that is valuable for the general community of runners, most of whom are not accessing metabolic testing. I would like to know, however, whether Dr Maffetone thinks that fora runnerwho HAS had a metabolic/VO2 max treadmill test, whether they should veto the MAF formula for the easy zone results indicated by the metabolic test. For example my MAF HR for easy runs is 133, but my VT1 is at a HR of 125 and my “sub-threshold zone”/zone 2 is up to 128. This aligns better with my “feel” (and by the way, both are far lower than where Athletica puts my “L2” - at 142, which is definitely not easy effort!)
