I have a few questions to ensure I understand Athletica correctly.
I have used Athletica for one race this year so far and although I improved my time from the previous year I believe I wasn’t properly rested. As my second race is approaching I am trying to understand the metrics better and I am adjusting as I see fit.
According to @Mark B “The aim of training is to maximize fitness and minimize fatigue just prior to a performance. Your Athletica training program does precisely that for you on a daily basis.”
When I entered my last race I was at the following
Fitness 79
Fatigue 83
Form 2
I don’t understand why Athletica wouldn’t try to have me better rested.
Unfortunately I screwed up on my dates with my next race but I manually tweaked my training plan for the next race on Saturday for me to be at a good level.
Fitness 82
Fatigue 67
Form 6
Initially it wanted me to be more fatigued and less in form while maintaining the same level of Fitness when I still had the race for Sunday.
Currently for my A Race in October (Age Group World Champs in Wollongong) it shows that I will be at the start line with the following
Fitness 72
Fatigue 78
Form - 2
What is going on here? That would be horrible…
Is Athletica broken, am I missing something or did I input something incorrectly.
I have been using Athletica for about 8 months now and for the most part I have been happy.
It takes a lot of guess work out of my training and it allows me to follow a plan with some adjustments here and there.
I have a few complaints and comments which I will post after my final race this year when giving a holistic review.
Hey @KevKoe
I had a look at your plan, and you’re right, your performance potential chart doesn’t look optimal. I checked your daily availability, and hours available, and it looks to me that your settings are a bit too narrow for the plan to be generated optimally (6-8hr weekly hours). It would be good if you can eek a little more leash for the AI. Could you try that out for me and revert back?
Let’s get you ready for the WC, Kevin!
I changed my metrics and it’s still showing a concerning development and I have no idea why.
I am a little frustrated I just “trusted” the AI for my last race and one of my takeaways was feeling tired off the start…
Can someone please look into this. I basically have no limitations for the amount and time of training for the next two months until my race and I want to be at my maximum potential for the Australia race.
Thanks in advance and feel free to make changes in my profile as needed for the AI to calculate properly.
You can always message me privately as well if that’s easier.
I hear you @KevKoe . I had a similar issue with my plan. It took several rounds of re-running the plan and manual tweaks to make my form look better on race morning. I’m hoping the platform does not change the plan too much in the next 4 weeks. Every time it refreshes it messes up my numbers. I’m still not happy with my tappering (eg. big gear on race week? 1h30min bike session the day before race day???) so I’ll have to adjust it accordingly and hopefully it will improve my numbers for race morning a bit more. I think there’s still a lot of room for the platform to learn and adjust. Too much manual tweaks required.
