Garmin Elevation incorrect affecting Training Load

About two weeks ago Garmin decided to add 20,000 ish meters of elevation onto my workouts. This resulted in the training load being way out. (About 400 over!) I have been using a Garmin 255 and all has been fine and dandy until around 6th April. I have found a manual fix for now. Just wanting to see if anyone else has experienced this? Corrupt file update perhaps?

This is most likely an issue with Garmin’s Barometric Altimeter Sensor.
You can contact Garmin’s support, they will first ask you to clean the watch in warm soap water, and propose to replace it if it does not work and still under warranty.

I had mine replaced once because of this, and I have the same issue again now.
For now I just connect Strava to Athletica and it will get corrected elevation from it.

I hope this helps.

Thank you @nicoguilbert . At least I know it wasn’t just something I had done wrong… I contacted Garmin who were not very helpful. On asking ChatGPT, I found out that you can manually change the reading from the device GPS elevation reading to professional survey data, in Garmin Connect settings > Correct elevation. Unfortunately I need to do this every run or cycle. ChatGPT suggested that it was probably a GPS setting glitch or software issue. I cant do without my watch right now, so sending it for replacement is out of the question!
