I noticed that when I do my aerobic runs by HR, my pace is far off (it’s slower), and then that results in pretty difference in planned km vs performed km (ex long run of 20.5 km ends up on 18km)
Is there any special test run I’d have to performe to recalibrate athletica? I skipped test week since I knew my threshold value, is it the case?
It may be that you need to redo a test after all, if you haven’t had any relevant efforts in the past 6 weeks they do drop off.
{ersonally, I find that my paces fluctuate day by day and some days I’m 14-45 seconds slower per mile at the same HR! Sleep, fuel, recovery, time of day, heat, cold, etc., can all impact my pace…in those cases, it’s ok to be slower as the plan is to give your heart a certain level of load and the pace is only secondary. So I don’t mind if I’m a mile up or down as long as planned HR intensity and duration were covered. Hope that helps!
PS. To redo a test, you can pick a test session from the workout library, or just make sure to go out and do an all-out 5k and separately a 3-5 mile MAF (pace you can sustain at a HR about 180-age). the Ai will see those efforts and adjust your thresholds accordingly.
PPS. Check that notify you is checked (and I prefer it to ask rather than go automatic) so you see when and what it’s adjusting in your thresholds.
Agree with this, I’ve stopped looking at the planned miles on the plan these days as my pace can be anything up to 45 seconds per miles different on steady efforts.
I run to the planned time and what will be will be on the distance. I think it’s quite a good way to train anyway, pushing to try and meet distances can sometimes be counter productive
