The plan I’m currently on is a low volume duathlon plan which has me doing 7 session over 6 days.
I’ve got a 5K race coming up and the plan has switched to a low volume 5K plan. This has dropped the frequency to 4 sessions in the week.
I’m wondering what the best way is to have the 5K plan retain the original training frequency? I have it set to let Athletica decide my training hours and the guidance set to 10 hours a day fully open.
The drop of training volume prior your 5k race is to allow you to show up to a race day fit and fresh. If you consider this 5 k more as a training race, and you have bigger fish to fry later on, I would simply consider removing it as a race and replace it with a hiit session. Then pad it with a few easy days (still training) before and after to allow your body to absorb the load.
Let me know what you think
