I had the same, it kept telling me off for doing the race because it would make me too fatigued for the race
We understand the frustration, and we appreciate your patience. The reason we initially refrained from automatically detecting races is that it’s not a straightforward problem—scenarios like uploading a warm-up before the race or multiple activities on race day made it tricky to handle accurately.
That said, we’re now actively working on a solution because we recognize how important race day is. To help us refine the improvements, it would be incredibly useful if you could share your past race dates. This will allow us to test the feedback modifications directly on real race data and ensure a better experience for you.
Thanks for your support!
Is there any news on when AI Coach is going to stop being spirit crushingly mean about every workout? I let Athletica decide whether to train by heart rate or pace and every session, even though I stick as best I can to the parameters set, I get ‘too high, too low’ etc. I used to really value the feedback, now I don’t really want to open the app!
I take the above back… today’s was actually great once I plucked up the courage to look!
I’ve totally lost workout feedback this weekend, neither Sat or Sunday long rides have the blurb nor the full feedback!
Cheers Andre
I know the team was talking about some updates happening this last week. I’ve actually personally noticed this last week a shift in the feedback. It was quite critical like you described before but as of this week it seems more supportive and realistic. Maybe it’s just coincidence?
Hello Everyone,
I am running into a few issues lately and seeking any helpful advice!
-
I input my feedback after all my workouts and lately I have been adding that I can’t do more than 2 workouts a day with my current work commitments and asking for the inclusion of rest days/recovery session as required because I currently don’t have any in my program. However, the AI feedback suggests it will updated my program, incorporating these suggestions but then doesn’t actually change anything. In my training settings I have dropped my hours from anything to max 4hrs per day on weekdays, I can still complete two medium session but 3 is too much. Should i drop my training hours lower? or is there another way to get around this? I don’t want to restrict the AI too much as I still would like the best suggestions so I can reach my goal of a 5hr 70.3 later this year.

Secondly, I have a personalised strength program to align with my 70.3 training from a trained physiologist and have been doing it when my strength sessions are prescribed. However, this program is different to the AI’s and even when editing the workout, adding I’m my prescribed weight session and completing it. The AI’s feedback still suggests i am overdoing it etc. and won’t adapt the future weight session to continue with my personalised weight program, even after I have requested.
-
Lastly, I have found quite the discrepancies between power/pace and hr zones resulting in the AI being unhappy with my workouts. I try to focus on maintaining my hr zones and then the pace/power is what it is, but they never seem to align. But I know this is an issue with allot of people and believe an update is coming?
Thanks everyone!
Let’s hope Athletica team have found the solution and this is a permanent change in Coaches analysis!
Hmm… today was race day (trained for month…) and all I get from the coach is a “Daily Update” in preparation of my next training block???
What happend to session feedback?
My coach had fixed itself it seems, some quite good feedback recently. But yeah seems to have disappeared completely today
Hi Everyone. Today we had an infrastructure issue where we needed to press ‘undo’ to some of the positive changes we made in the AI coach personality release. We’ll be reverting back as soon we get things stable again. Thanks for your patience.
Congrats on your race! How did it go?
Oh thanks! Was way better than expected. Felt good prepared by Atheltica. And I think the beetroot also had their part.
Hey there, thanks for reaching out
About adding rest days and adjusting session limits:
We’re currently working on a version where the AI Coach can be a bit more interactive and flexible within certain limits. Since the training plans are grounded in real expert insights and coaching best practices, we want to avoid a situation where the AI makes too many changes on its own — like randomly adding rest days or completely reshuffling your week, which wouldn’t be a great user experience.
In the meantime, the best way to adjust your plan is through the settings. Don’t hesitate to constrain the AI to fit your life — that’s what the settings are there for. If you know you can only manage two sessions a day, or need specific days lighter, feel free to reduce the training hours and indicate which types of sessions you want or don’t want. The AI will then place and prioritize sessions according to those preferences while still targeting your 70.3 goal.
About using your personalized strength program:
You did exactly the right thing by editing the strength session to reflect your physiologist’s program. The AI evaluates strength sessions based on duration only, since it currently doesn’t have a way to assess content like reps, exercises, or weight. To get proper compliance feedback and avoid overdoing warnings, make sure you complete at least 70% of the prescribed time you entered for that session.
Also — good spot on a bug! We’ve addressed this issue recently, so you should see more sensible feedback moving forward when logging your customized S&C work.
About discrepancies between HR, power, and pace zones:
Great observation — this is a known challenge. Even when zones are set correctly (following testing protocols), it’s quite common for HR zones not to perfectly align with pace/power zones, especially in different conditions (in/outdoor) or across disciplines. We are actively working on improvements here, and at the moment we let the AI to evaluate the best compliance across either HR or pace/power zones rather than expecting perfect alignment.
The AI coach is moaning about me not having supplied RPE, feeling etc. But this is the first time I have been into the session since I completed it, and first opportunity to provide exactly what it says I’ve skipped.
