Dear @Prato thank you for your messages and comments.
Unfortunately, as of today, we do not have the option to select between metrics for the training load assessment. Also, Athletica today is not best suited for trail running (or running on terrain with huge elevation gains). I’d LOVE to. Therefore we’ll be looking into the future trying to optimise for that as well.
When it comes to trail running, speed might not be the best indicator, even though we compute a “gradient adjusted speed”. The GPS technology is not there yet to provide us with a trustworthy high-resolution estimation of the elevation profile and “track/road” gradient in a mountain environment (sharp changes in elevation, rocks, trees obstructing the signal, etc…).
As a consequence, we might need to consider HR as a key metric for that.
In summary: we have “speed” as main metric for road running and -only in the future- we might have HR for trail running.
RE running power: yes, interesting point. As far as I am concerned, it would be difficult to compare across devices. I love running power, but in my experience is highly consistent within the athlete, but not so much between athletes using different devices. Food for thoughts.
Thanks!
