From what I understand, I can only adjust my training zones based on Critical Power (CP) in terms of watts and heart rate. I’ve recently undergone several lab tests, and due to illness and injury, I need to focus on rebuilding my base at LT1/VT1. My lower power output has dropped significantly, so the standard zone distribution from CP doesn’t quite suit my current needs. I would like to manually adjust zones a bit more detailed. I’ve come across one or two posts about this topic, but the most recent one was from 2022, so I thought it’d be okay to ask again. Thanks for any help!
Hey @Rab72
Sorry about very late reply.
yes, you can manually override the zones in Overview - Athlete Zones - and manually input your threshold. You’ll probably need to play with it a little bit to get your zone 1/2 match what you see is the best in relation to your current situation.
Hope this helps,
MJ
Thanks but then I understand that you can only change CP and then the zones adapt to that through percentages, correct? And that is not really what I wanted, but then i know
That’s correct. Not ideal, but as you build your aerobic machine, main focus should be on lower intensities, right, and you want those to match closely where you are at. I realize this is not what you wanted. You could maybe adjust the threshold down a little bit and then do your aerobic sessions at a lower target range. it is tempting to try to hit the higher end of zone 2, but it is totally legit to go easy
Hi Rab72; I am going through the same thing right now - I have to keep my HR under 110, ideally 100, for the next ~3 months which is not even close to my prior thresholds! So, I manually typed in my Critical HR as 110 and set a fake race 9+ months out in order to get base weeks which are longer and lower intensity.
And totally agree/understand, the percentages aren’t perfect but it gives me something to go on. You/I can always use the workout wizard under injury or fatigue to get a different workout if the prescribed one is HIIT for example (I’ll be hanging out with the wizard for a while myself).
Reach out anytime if I can also be a reference!
Thanks. Right now I adjust a bit “on the fly”. Your solution is better since algorithm suggests more specific
Nice - keep me posted and good luck
