Hi guys, I wanted to know if the DISTRIBUTION MODE was working or not because even though I reduced swimming to a minimum, it continues to increase volume and intensity
@Prof I noticed that despite my request for Intensity Distribution,
ATHLETICA only increases running, not cycling, while it continues to increase swimming, ignoring my request to decrease it.
Could this be because it automatically planned the Performance Potential and is trying to maintain that goal, ignoring my instructions? In the case of swimming, for example, since it’s well below the range, it continues to increase it instead of decreasing it as I requested?
Thanks!
I have been seeing the same (before my current run-only plan), hopefully they are working on it…
Hey @Giuseppe85 & @kimberg I’m working on a reply to you, hang tight ![]()
Hey @Giuseppe85 @Kimberg
Thanks for your patience here, and clear screenshots. I’ve consulted both @prof and @Andrea to confirm what is happening.
The current distribution mode setting doesn’t make large changes to the actual weekly plan. It works more as an indicator for how the system calculates your sports specific fitness (CTL) rather than a strict instruction to change volume and intensity week-to-week.
Because Athletica’s training logic is built from pre-defined plans, it will always try to keep your training in line with what it considers the “optimal path” for a balanced training program. This means:
- If one discipline is already high (eg. your cycling) it slows down further increase.
- If another discipline is relatively lower (eg swimming in your case), it may continue to increase that load, even if you’ve selected a lower swim percentage in Distribution mode.
The system is still respecting your preferences when possible, but it must also stay within the structure of original plan. This sometimes results in it asking you to adapt more to the plan, rather than the plan fully adapting your request.
We know that this can feel rigid, and we are reviewing the UX so that settings like Distribution mode work in a way that matches user expectations more closely in the future.
Thank you for raising this - it’s helpful feedback as we improve Athletica.
Best, MJ
PPerfect, thanks for the message. It was exactly what I imagined!
At this point, I ask you… by adjusting my fitness and fatigue data (reducing cycling and increasing swimming), I should be able to increase cycling volume and decrease swimming..![]()
