What should my Race Day Form value be? I have a R2R2R on March 28th (using a 100K training plan) and it shows my form will be -2.
That doesn’t seem like very good tapering to me to end up on race day underwater as far as fatigue and fitness are concerned.
Hello!
A few thoughts on your post.
First, good luck on the R2R2R! That’s a challenging race!
Typically, if an athlete I coach lands between -5 and +5 before an event, they’re ready to go. The Form isn’t that precise and is more a guideline. It all depends on how they feel.
You can also always reduce some volume of longer workouts as you’d like. Keep the intensity of the plan but go for less time than the plan suggests.
As always, I’d suggest paying attention to how you feel. You should feel, if you’re doing a full taper, feel fresh and ready to go. You might also add in some bike rides instead of running to reduce the stress on your legs while keeping some endurance miles.
What do you think of this? Thanks!
