I just went through my taper week for Sprint Triathlon in 3 weeks and noticed some odd suggestions. First off Wed HIIT and MIT looks like RoB workout, asking me to run of the bike straight into race pace, than some strides, it all looks messy anyway. Secondly on Sat (day before race) it suggest strength endurance with low cadence for 1:14h which I think is too much for before the race? I presume low cadence will have effect on muscle soreness not mentioning that the 1:14 is my hit goal for the race next day
(of course different pace, but anyway…) I know that I have many constraints in my training plan which don’t give any room to breath for AI (busy week for me everytime) but still this doesn’t look ok in my opinion.
Interesting that the Athletica AI, produced a taper like that for you. I also race sprint (including draft-legal races). I am also a mid volume athlete.
My taper for last week was:
Monday Workout 1 - Strength Endurance Swim
Workout 2: Cycling - Low Cadence strength work.
Tuesday 1: Run - Threshold session on Track.
Wednesday: Swim - Long HIIT
Thursday: Workout 1: Swim - Steady Aerobic Open water
Workout 2: Cycling - Pre Race Primer
Workout 3: Run - ROB at tempo (including 10min at Race pace)
Friday: Rest
Saturday: Workout 1: Swim - Open water Steady
Workout 2: Cycling - Final bike with 5min at Race pace.
Workout 3: Run - Light jog with some Strides.
Sunday: Race Day
For my training parameters, I have gotten my routine down pretty well. Reading what you wrote about your constraints, the AI likely produced the best solution for you to have the best fitness, fatigue and form values for your race.

Being totally honest here, this is my 3rd try with the app. I started months ago but there was not even at that time option for setting up the weekly availability, so I switched to Tridot. Came back here again when the weekly schedule was possible, tried to adjust my week and it was looking ok ish but some weeks were very off with some RoB in the middle of the week out of nowhere, 10 workouts the same day loaded into Intervals.icu etc. I wanted to give it a try for a 3rd time for my 3rd race and then I saw this taper week… Normally I have my plan tight on time (who doesn’t?
) Mon/Wed/Fri - strength, Tue/Thu/Sat - bike, Wed/Sat/Sun- run, Sun - swim (Sunday morning is the only time when the pool is not occupied by schools in my village
So I presume setting up my constraints cause all the disaster with plan/taper week, but others can make it like Humango, or Tridot so why not AI from Athletica
