Right interpretation of aerobic long ride

Hello everyone. hello everyone. I am starting a period of training to increase my base in view of future build and race training. I have a doubt about the execution of my long bike sessions for aerobic development. for these sessions I should do about 3 hours in z2 but I really like to do hilly laps so I happen that in some climbs the power rises in low z3 with peaks in z4. the heart in these cases slowly rises to the limits of z2. I would like to understand, in these laps what I should keep under control? Heart rate or power? How can execute these rides maintaining the aerobic development target? Thank you

Hello again, Davide! With aerobic development workouts, I would definitely keep your heart rate under control in zone 2. Pedal easy up the hills to keep your HR in the endurance range. Using power might end up increasing your HR as you ride more and fatigue so that your HR increases to outside of zone 2. Make sense?

Hi @SimpleEnduranceCoach

Yes that make sense!! It happens bytheway that during some climb i can’t stay too low with power or i can’t slow down because the road became steep. In that case my power goes high and after few minutes also my heart. Yes I know the answer is “don’t go on thatcroad” but it happens (like last sunday :man_facepalming:). So in any case I should try to take care of heart rate..that’s it…I’ll do
