When setting up a training plan is there any way to tell the AI that I want 4 week training blocks (3 weeks of build, 1 week of recovery)? Or to let it know that I only want a single week of taper before my race (my next one is only a 5k) ? Would playing with A vs. B vs. C race make a difference?
I don t think. There Is t and AI THAT can change training plan
Hello,
You can move weeks in your overview tab, so if you want 4 base/build weeks in a row, you can do it there. Requires a little bit manual work but can be done.
Setting a, b, and c weeks affect how much taper you get. I would definitely set 5k as C week if that is a training race so you don’t get that much taper.
Hope this helps
Kind of… I did this and would still prefer the option to tell the coach that I want 4 week blocks and a single taper week. Or perhaps to change weeks in the template before it is applied.
The 5k plan I started with:
My experience:
I have only one race coming up, so Athletica wouldn’t let me set it to a B or C race - I must have an A race. So I put in a made up race about 10 weeks after my actual race and made that my A race so my actual race could be a C race.
Both my C race and A race had 2 weeks of taper, but I had a couple of 4 week blocks now. And enough Build weeks to work with (since there isn’t an option to change a Recovery week to Build).
However, every time I swapped weeks I had to wait 5 to 10 minutes because the plan locked while it recalculated. So 2 hours after I started (I didn’t wait for the update, I went off and did other things and came back to it when I had a change) I ended up with this:
This works for me because I only care about the race on Sep 21 (at the end of the week of 2025-09-15). I will generate a new plan after that. It would not work if I wanted to prepare for both races. I would need a way to convert some of those Recovery and Taper weeks to Build weeks.
So, I’ll use this for now and would still love to be able to simply tell the coach, or click a checkbox to swap from 3 week blocks to 4 week blocks and to specify how much taper I want before a race (2 weeks before a 5k seems excessive to me).
