Training Variability & Performance Decline

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using Athletica AI for a few months now, and I’d love some insights on two observations from my recent training:

  1. Lack of Variability in Workouts My running sessions (e.g., 30/30 intervals) seem quite similar from week to week. Is this typical, or should I expect more diversity in the workouts over time? I’m curious if this repetition might impact my long-term progress or adaptation.

  2. Decline in Performance Metrics Over the past 6 weeks, I’ve noticed a drop in my running pace profile, running threshold, bike threshold, power profile, and swimming pace/profile compared to the previous 3 months. This decline is consistent across all three sports.

    • Has anyone else experienced this?

    • Could it be related to fatigue, recovery, or perhaps the training structure?

A bit of context:

  • I’ve been consistent with my training and following the AI-generated plans.

  • No significant changes in diet, sleep, or stress levels that I’m aware of.

I’d really appreciate your thoughts or experiences—thanks in advance!

Hi there, just my thoughts on the matter

  1. I felt the same when I started the plan. I then looked at other (running) plans that I was using and tbh it was the same. Stryd for example has 3 basic workouts that rotate. I started using the workout wizard to freshen things up and I’m actually enjoying the Athletica workouts much more now
  2. I’m not sure on this one, do you feel like the current values are correct? Is it possible that when you started using Athletica that the imported data/values were too high?

Hello,

On the second point. Have you restested or raced recently? If the profile is based off the best efforts over the last 6 weeks and you havn’t put a marker down in that time then the profile won’t look quite as good as it once did.
