I’ve heard on the podcast briefly mentioned that y’all suggest not using ERG mode on the trainer. Could you point me to any podcasts or articles where you discuss this more in-depth? Thanks!

@mtnphotog, I would generally suggest you don’t use ERG mode for intervals simply because you won’t have ERG out on the road. However, in the beginning, especially if you are fairly new to doing hard intervals, it’s helpful to have ERG on to feel how hard you need to go to meet the goals. ERG also can help when you don’t want to think and just want to crank out the work.
Personally, I don’t use ERG at all on the trainer. It just doesn’t feel natural to me and gets me irritated!
The only way to make a trainer ride less interesting: erg mode.
Hmm, yeah, I get that. I’ve used it this season because I haven’t really done interval training on the trainer before… But I’m getting a Zwift Click and Hub thing so I can do virtual shifting and reach the targets manually.
