I’m starting this thread to hold the list of compatible devices for the Connect IQ Workout Reserve Data Field. If you want to know if your device can run the field then visit here.
At the moment it is only cycling beta but running beta is imminent. Watch this thread as I’ll add to it as soon as I release updates bringing more devices into the compatible list.
All the variants of the Fenix 6, but not the Fenix 6 itself? Is there any way to turn on the switch for the standard Fenix 6?
Presumably if it works on all the variants it would work on the standard version?
I’ve never been able to use this feature and I have three of the watches on the list I JUST noticed today there was an update a few days ago that stated the Android authorization bug has been fixed, so figured I’d try again. I got to the authorization screen and it still won’t complete without an error. Any ideas?
Yes, I remember the redirect fix back discussion back in June, but this was an update JUST posted on 1/15/2025 that was supposed to address the Android issue. And no, I’m not able to redirect or change the URL.
Unfortunately the bug is in the Garmin IQ Android app. As in the Garmin code. Hence why I’ve had to try something in the data field for Android that I do not for iOS. Hopefully there will be a crash log I can look at that might offer me an idea on further work rounds to progress. But it’s extremely tricky and I’d much prefer Garmin would fix the bug I reported to them last year.
Well the change was a way to overcome Garmin Connect app on Android from failing to add the ? (Added a & instead) But it appears the app objects to what I’ve done.to get the ? As above the true fix is for Garmin to fix their own code on Garmin.
Of course because that’s not the memory available to data fields on Fenix 6. The memory available is 32kB, yes kilobytes. What you have found is the memory available to store activity history, a very different thing.
Okay, I have managed to install, authorise and download the workout reserve profile using an old Android phone. I installed the latest Chrome browser and set it as the default browser under default apps in settings.
If you are still getting errors, I suggest uninstalling the data field, and reinstalling. Then adding back to a data screen. Don’t forget to leave your Garmin device and phone both turned on and next to each other after authorising. Then wait as per the instructions.
I have not made any changes since my last update. I’ve just got hold of a retired Android phone to give it a test. It’s running Android 11 which came out in 2020.
