In short, I messed up. My saddle was 1.2 cm lower after the race. It explains why I was not having my usual sensation and power. I unfortunately think it went down during the descent preview, and I did not notice! I felt it was wrong during the race, but my race number was stuck on top of the measurement. Not only did it impact my ride, but it also impacted my run! Anyway, it is done, and it is a big lesson to remember.

I also had to stop for pooping and later to remove my right shoe and sock as one toe was hurting during the run. Overall, I lost 7 minutes on the run and much more on the bike and run due to saddle height. I don’t think I would have podium, but I would have been closer. It also explains why my legs felt like a tree trunk off the bike, and I could not run in the transition! I feel bad to trash all the hard training with this mistake, but I will try to come back next year for the 70.3!

That said, the course was fantastic from swimming to running.

  • Swim: AG Swimskin mass start in the beautiful deep blue Mediteranean sea. The course was well mark and little bit shorter (4000 vs 4200 yds)
  • Bike: amazing scenery from the Nice city sea front: promenade des Anglais to the 1200m high plateau with water fall, rock tunnel with multiple hairpin descent
  • Run: On the Nice city sea front: promenade des Anglais with a big crowd!

13/138 is not bad, but I should have done better as I was ready for it. I am looking for future races.

Best
