Ironman training: Longest training sessions are too short

Hello,
FWIW I love Athletica! I should get an affiliate link for how much I recommend it.

I’m about 2 months out from my second full-distance Ironman. So far the volume and time per workout feels adequate, however, as I look ahead the longest prescribed bike and run sessions seem inadequate; 3:30 hour bike and 1:45 run. I would have expected it to build up to 5 hr bike and 3 hour run. On the weekends, I’ve selected up to 5 hours of exercise per day, so that shouldn’t be a blocker.

Has anyone experienced this? Is there a scientific basis for the lower volume or is this an error?

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your support @michaelsantee. This question has been answered before on multiple threads. Search ‘longest’. Longest distance marathon plan
I’ve checked your profile settings. Remember that Athletica honours your time preferences first. Consider lengthening max total hours to allow your longer weekend distances to be revealed.

Thanks for the suggestion @Prof . I’ve been playing around with it and have the weekend hours up to max and the ramp rate as high as it can go. However, the longest bike gets to 4:20, which is reasonable (would have expected 5 hrs) and the longest run is only 1:45, which seems low. Granted, multiple sessions are stacked those days, but I would have expected it to prioritize ramping volume close to race distances as it nears the race date. Any insight as to why it’s doing this? Is there something in the science that goes against the grain of getting long sessions at similar race times/distances?

I think if you use the search function you’ll find the answers you’re looking for

ATHLETICA studies your history… if you’re not used to a 30km run or a 5-hour bike ride, you can’t fit them into your plan.
I’ve increased the volume on my own initiative, “pushing” L.A.I. to plan more sessions, commenting with “Great! Easy session or no difficulty…”
