New options for training plan scheduling had unexpected results

I was excited to see the ability to define training plan schedules, but when I tried it out, the results were not what I was hoping for.

Athletica has always given me a long ride brick on Saturday and a long run on Sunday, and I’ve had to swap these around every week because I work on Saturdays and my running club is on Saturday mornings. I figured that if I used the scheduling options to define Saturdays as run days and Sundays as riding days, it would get the hint and flip them around from now on.

Instead, Athletica has eliminated brick workouts and long aerobic rides completely and moved shorter rides to Sundays. I’ve also seen long runs still being on Sundays and run-off-the-bike workouts on Saturday by themselves.

I’d rather go back to the old plan and move the workouts around myself, but that doesn’t seem to be possible because all of the workouts have changed. What should I do to get the schedule I want?

Check if your plan changed from “mid” to “low” or vice versa. I had to adjust the hour sliders to get “my plan” back.

Aha, it looks like it changed that setting behind my back! I’ll change it back and see if that affects anything.

So I made the changes, and it created an entire new plan wiping out the one I was following. It’s got me doing threshold tests again next week! That’s also not what I wanted.

I just want my long ride to be on Sunday and my long run to be on Saturday.

I ran into this while playing around as well. There’s an option to not create a test week on one of the steps.
