Over Unders Intensity

Hello !

I’m fulling a half distance tri plan. In particular this week is a Middle Distance Mid Volume Build 1 week.

Today I just did my “Over Unders” session. It’s description reports:

“The bike portion of a middle distance triathlon is ideally performed right around your L3b pace. Therefore, we need to work on pushing our L3b level, and that is what this session is all about.”

Anyway the main section of that session has:
1min Z4-Z5 → Hard
4min Z2 to Z3a → IM intensity

So it seems that non Z3b is involved there.

Is that expected to be so ?

Thanks

Hi @thekappe
Nice job - your session in question below so we know what we’re talking about. You executed well. I note you rated the session ‘hard’ with RPE 5, so perfect. I also note that WR was towards zero for much of this key set so again, that means you’re getting an ideal and new stimulus leading now to adaptation in the recovery period. Note how you’re doing work around the L3b pace where you are likely to perform in your race. So again, this makes sense intuitively to be an ideal stim. You are certainly welcome to try holding in the L3b power, however WR suggests you need more exposure to the current prescription first. Good news in that your HR response hanging more in Z3a suggests you tolerated and held strong.

Hello @Prof !

thank you a lot for your insight, it does make sense now. During my warm up I didn’t feel so confident to be able to hold those zones, anyway after the first rep I was quite surprise to be able to manage them.

In the end it came up to be one of my best rides to date. Thumbs UP to you and athletica !
