Hi all,
I just finished my test week for a duathlon training plan, and I’m not sure my CHR values are quite right. For running, my CHR is set at 192 bpm which I think is way too high. In my 5km all-out test my HR climbed from around 177 at the beginning to 183 by the end. However, in the previous week I uploaded a 2.8km all-out running race in which I sustained about 190bpm, hitting a max HR of 196bpm, and Athletica had already set my CHR at 192bpm after this activity, which was not updated after my 5km test (it did, however, update my threshold pace making it slower, but not the CHR). I am now worried that my HR zones won’t be accurate, since 192bpm seems way too high for a running CHR given that my maxHR is about 196bpm.
Cycling CHR is also a bit strange, since it is set at 153bpm. I know cycling HR is usually lower than running HR, but this just seems too low for me, especially since zone 2 then becomes 104 bpm to 126 bpm which I find incredibly low. I am, however, super new to cycling (only 2 weeks) and it is true that during my FTP test I sustained about 158 to 160bpm which seemed the max sustainable HR for any relatively long period, so this CHR may be right, it just seems to result in a zone 2 that is very very relaxed.
Any help in understanding these numbers and the resulting zones will be appreciated!
Best,
Adrià
