I was chatting with some female athletes in a large Facebook group asking about what their biggest challenge was… I am sure many will agree with these top three:
- Time (lack of time more specifically)
- Feeling of mom guilt
- Nutrition
Anything you would add to this?
Let’s share some ideas to help each other navigate these challenges.

Nutrition relating to hormones / glucose regulation - TL;DR damaged my hormone regulation and glucose regulation in training for another sport when younger, and struggle to get nutrition dialed in w/o sugar spikes or dramatic drops, hormone issues, consistency, etc… Female cycles and hormone fluctuation are not really handled well in my experience.

Hey @kimberg and welcome to the team!
Great topic! And one that I am sure many female athletes can relate to. You are % this area is so blurred, whether it is due to the lack of research or the the fact that we are very individual - regardless, we must do a lot of individual trial and error to find the seemingly impossible balance.
We are interviewing an amazing expert for our podcast, the Athlete’s Compass, Mikki Williden, PHD, in September. Please send me your specific questions before hand, and we will direct those questions to her. Make sure to follow her on socials as well, as her content is spot on!
Also; dr. Laursen co-wrote an amazing article about Athlete’s - Fit But Unhealthy.
A great read and I am sure you can relate, as do I.
