Assistance Interpreting A.I. Coach Comment on My Rowing Profile

Question: I’m on a Mid Volume Plan (6-12 hrs) and have religiously following my prescribed workouts. Is the RED-boxed A.I. Coach comment on the attached screenshot telling me I need to increase my plan hours?

Hi! Thanks for reaching out. It means your CP is likely too low to be truthful, unless you are an outlier.

To make sure you have a good CP estimate, you should make sure to record at least 3 maximal efforts in the range 3-30 mins. For example: 5, 10, 20 mins. It is crucial that one of these 3 efforts is long enough: the longer, the more accurate your CP estimate will be. From the chart, I see you did a great effort around 25 minutes, if I am not mistaken: was this truly maximal? That has an high impact on your CP estimate. Also, as the coach is asking have you done a max effort around 3-5 minutes?

If you have followed all the prescribed tests (within the last 3 months - otherwise you need to retest), you could well be an outlier and be better at short power outputs than long ones. In that case, the CP will improve as you train more and more (on longer efforts). It just takes time…

Thank you @Stef for your reply and clarification. That makes since given the HIIT workouts I’ve been prescribed haven’t required my Test-equivalent Power efforts in the range 3-30 mins that I exerted when I last retested the week of February 3, 2025.

I have completed all planned workouts and a 2k C race since my Feb. test week as prescribed, so this leads me to discussions I’ve read on other threads about how often a user should test during their Training Pan…and, whether that testing should be prescribed/incorporated by the A.I. into the training plan.

I’m happy with my progress over the past 4 months and look forward to refinements to platform!
