Correctly skip/adapt workouts so Athletica adapts correctly

Hi all!

Triathlete, new to athletica.ai and really by far the only AI training platform I’ve tried so far that is very promising to me and actually feels like it’s simply leaning on solid modern scientific plans more than randomly generated workouts that have you train at Threshold 6 out of 7 days.

Anyway to my question
Over the winter I want to skip my swims, at least most of them (we can have a separate training talk if sbdy wants :: ).
Athletica has me swimming 3 times a week at mid volume middle distance plan. Also at peak I want to swim 2 times max. Currently 0-1 time.

Of course then a lot of load and hours is missing, so do I:

  • Simply delete the swims and count on Athletica adapting => Athletica obviously doesn’t give me then a bike/run workout additionaly of course but should it increase load of other run/bikes? Because it seems it doesn’t and I would end up with a way too little load & hours
  • Delete or skip the swims and just do more on the bike/run than prescribed => So if there’s a swim and a bike planned that day, I just ride longer? Or if there’s just a swim planned for the day, I take a rest day or do a similar bike load instead?

Thanks and great tool you are working towards (Software developer myself, so kudos).

EDIT: Also I saw that in the beta program there’s been the option for user constraints for a while. Maybe that would solve the issue best then?

Hey,

Thank you for your kind words! I also have tested many and scratched my head thinking: why so many threshold sessions?!

Anyhow, I totally get - I skipped swimming for like 4 months or so last year. Here’s what I would do:

Hit that workout wizard button - go to “injury”- and pick a run or bike workout instead. That way you are hitting a similar load , just changed the mode. And don’t have to guess “how much running or biking I have to do extra since I am not doing the planned swim”.

You can also sign up for the beta group to put some guardrails into the program (there’s a separate thread for that - please read so you understand what is involved).

Lmk if you have any questions
Best, MJ

Ah, didn’t see that, great thx! Might still incorporate it into 1 ride/run then obviously but great to see which load is expected

I wonder if setting the swim percentage to 1% or bike / run to total of 100% would also work?

Thanks

Even though I set MO to an off day basically, it still gives me normal training on Mondays. Do I have to manually move the rest day from FR to MO if I want to have it there? Thanks

@cmart Did you wait 24h to give the AI time to do its thing as discussed above?

WOWWWW!!! I thought after recalculating the plan, it’s done. But today (Europe here), it completely restructured my plan to have a rest day on MO:

THIS IS INCREDIBLE, really awesome, keep it up!
