Double threshold approach

Hi everyone!
I’m reading more and more articles about the “double threshold” approach, 2 intensity sessions on the same day to promote mitochondrial adaptations.
I was wondering if Athletica incorporates this approach as I’ve never received such a program.
Perhaps it’s due to my configuration? If it’s possible to include such training in my schedule, what do I have to do to get my AI coach to schedule it for me every week?
Thank you

Hi @Fabrice. Not at this point, however all the tools and sessions are there to configure. Ultimately the philosophy is that you’d move your key sets to just one day, and the other day or days would be more aerobic. So you have the scope to do this by moving your sessions around in any given week. I.e., Threshold or Sprint Swim in the morning, and 30/30 bike or interval run in the afternoon. Then subsequent day is aerobic/technique swim and aerobic development bike/run. Etc. As we say, lots of ways to skin the cat and here we provide the tools for you to do your own n=1 experiment. Let us know how you go.

Due to scheduling, I often end up doing this for my interval sessions - go out for the 30:30 run session, then come in and hop on for the 30:30 bike session. It aligns with the “keep the easy days easy and the hard days hard” approach and personally, I’ve been seeing huge speed and power gains.

As for making it automatically happen, I do have to drag and drop since the AI likes to keep those two sessions on separate days (though still near each other to ensure progressive overload and appropriate recovery efforts elsewhere). I tried using the schedule constraints but it’s still in early development, so for me it’s just easier to log in on Sunday and drag my schedule around to where I want it. Remember to click unlock on the moved sessions if you want the AI to modify them based on your load.

Hi @Prof , @kimberg,
Thank you both for your answers. I will proceed as you mention, it is indeed quite easy to do. Plus, I’ll be able to schedule this day when it’s actually feasible for me.
Keep up the great work.
PS: I find the science of training really fascinating
