Feature request: Warm up by HR and intervals by pace

When sending a workout to Garmin I get these options:

Prescribe workout by pace
Prescribe workout by heart rate
Let our Smart Coach choose the best option

For runs involving speed work the Smart Coach always chooses pace for everything.

This results in constant pace warnings when I’m doing the long warm ups because although I remain in zone 2 my pace often exceeds the range prescribed.

Would it be possible to have an option of using HR zones for WU Easy/steady and pace for the actual speed work?

Thanks,
Ben

Hi Ben, you should be able to choose one or the other for your workouts. There’s a speedometer icon for pace and a heart for heart rate. Choose the HR for aerobic workouts and warmups, and pace for the speed work. Hope that helps!

Hi, I’m not sure how to accomplish what you’ve suggested. I have icons for pace and heart rate but they’re not changeable or selectable in any of the screens that I can see. What I am talking about are the athletica prescribed HIIT sessions. Even though they involve a lot of speed reps they start and finish with 20 - 30 minutes of easy pace and the option to sync to Garmin will only let me do pace or heart rate but what I want is heart rate for the warm up and pace for the speed work. Am I missing something here or is that not currently possible?
Thanks,
Ben

Ah, I think I understand now, Ben. Sorry for my confusion. The Garmin will do one or the other, as far as I understand, but you can always just do you usual warm up before hitting the intervals. I often tell my athletes on Athletica that they don’t need to follow everything exactly. So I’d suggest you do the warmup by feel and pay attention to your breathing. Start with breathing easy, then do some efforts that cause you to breathe harder. You should be warmed up enough to do the speed reps then. I hope that helps.
