From Mid to High volume?

Hello,

I’ll race a full IM next end of sept. I’m 40 and had completed to full IM last year.

When I started using athletica (a couple of weeks from now) I’ve set it up as:

I am about completing the assesment week and today the system notified me that:

What should I do considering that I don’t want to train more than 17-20hr/week ?

Would you advise me to complete the whole assesment week before trying anything ?

thanks

F.

I would set it to “I will set my own hours”. Then set the maximum hours you’d like to do. This is what I do when my A event is a long way out.

Then what I do when I get within about 2 months of my A event, I set it to Let Athletica decide. At this point I am happy to train a few more hours. Because Athletica should be applying progressive overload , the extra max hours you are requested to train shouldn’t exceed your ramp rate. But will give a bit more headroom to grow fitness leading up to A event, assuming you’d maxed out hours up to that point.

Then after A event I go unscheduled to take a mental and physical break. Then train to maintain to get back into training. Then finally return to a plan where I set the max hours.

I am just another user by the way, but I ride ultra cycling events, so I get the volume thing.
