Then what I do when I get within about 2 months of my A event, I set it to Let Athletica decide. At this point I am happy to train a few more hours. Because Athletica should be applying progressive overload , the extra max hours you are requested to train shouldn’t exceed your ramp rate. But will give a bit more headroom to grow fitness leading up to A event, assuming you’d maxed out hours up to that point.
Then after A event I go unscheduled to take a mental and physical break. Then train to maintain to get back into training. Then finally return to a plan where I set the max hours.
I am just another user by the way, but I ride ultra cycling events, so I get the volume thing.
