Garmin ConnectIQ Workout Reserve data field

I take it from this , either you have the watch auto scrolling between data screens or you just weren’t looking at the watch all the time?

Yes I did look at lap timers to see if anything close in time but no. I saw you triggered the laps manually. Is this to simulate laps round a circuit for the real event?

Anyway, hopefully a basic crash report will appear in Connect IQ error reporting to give me a clue as to why it did what it did. Then hopefully I’ll have enough info that I can think of a fix, code, test and release it.

If not I’ll just have to try running your fit file through the IQ simulator and see if it causes it to re initialise there as well. Though as that runs real time as well, I’ll have to set it running and wait approx two hours.

I did also note you had the Connect IQ aero pod CDA field running, which I won’t be able to test as being present (and running) in any IQ simulator tests.

I weren’t looking at the watch all time and often i had the screen with power, heart rate and speed on. So somtimes i switch to garmin stamina and WR fields ( and they give different values…).

Yes thecreal event will have 4 laps to go than i tried to replicate what i will find.

Yes there is still the aero CDA field but i have some issue with the air probe so it’s there but doesn’t work.

Well of course they will as they will be using their own proprietary algorithms and equations just as Athletica does. They do not know the Athletica calculation specifics and Athletica do not know theirs. All they will be able access is what @Andrea has published about Workout Reserve from a science point of view.

Reviewing the data of sunday training when i did a bike ride of 3h and a run of 45’, i think stamina overstimate my energy reserve while WR app underestimate. It was at 8% when itvhappen that glitch and I wasn’t neither at the half ofvthe session.
Other curious thing is that WR app when i started for the run, starts with reserve at 100% as it doesn’t know i already did the bike ride. Stamina started at a value egual to the end of bike ride. For multisport this is quite helpful to have. Thank you Phil!!

Athletica Workout Reserve is not energy reserve. I can see Garmin pitches theirs like that, but WR is purely looking at your current performance against your recent personal best performances over a range of durations. When you hit 0% you’ve matched a recent personal best, it doesn’t mean you’ve run out of energy.

There is no crash report for Sunday. I’ll have to run your fit file through the simulator to see if it produces the same glitch.

@Phil thank you for looking into this for @Prato :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

@Prato

The simulator is now running against your fit file. Hopefully it’ll replicate the issue, so I can see what’s going on.

A bit of time to wait!

:sweat_smile::sweat_smile::sweat_smile:who will win??? Let’s see the result!!!

It didn’t happen in the simulator. I can only conclude that the IQ field restarted mid activity (on your watch) for some reason, maybe IQ memory management causing the reinitialisation. Still no crash report, so maybe it didn’t, but a restart can happen anyway? I’ve got some ideas for reducing impact of a restart (that isn’t a crash) mid activity, but these things are best not rushed. Leave it with me, and I’ll publish a new version when I think I’ve got something workable.

Thank you @Phil
No issue for me. You have all the time you want. I wuold only inform you of the bug. This is not a block for my training…while issues on planning with time constraints for example is.
Bye!!!
