At least twice a month, I like to do a run session with my neighbors and while Athletica gets this runs incorporated into the plan without issues, I had an idea.
Assuming that all the people I am going out for a run with, use Athletica as well. They could form a “running group”. Now, anyone of the group could plan a run for the weekend and invite the members of the group to join the run.
Athletica will create a run sessions which is fine for all of the runners or incorporates the defined session into the training plan calculation.
So either one defines a workout and therefor Athletica plans around this workout if the person is joining the “group run” or Athletica generates one which matches the training plan of all.
I also know that this is tricky, but Athletica could create a “group run” for the whole group to do a 8k run with a certain pace.
After the 8k, some group members have reached their goal/load, for the others they would split and finish up on 10k, 12k or get some hill climbs or intervals at the end to have get the load they need. Basically a group workout with individual goals at the end but just for some of them.
I know a lot of magic must happen in the background, and those “group runs” must be defined some time upfront, but it would just be a great feature to get more people a) into Athletica and b) exercise together.
btw. this could be any kind of session, but running is the one which came to my mind
I love the way you think @herbert
A simple solution exists already:
Everyone signs up for Athletica plan and schedules any of the key workouts:
Aerobic
Strength endurance
HIIT hills
Etc
Using Athletica’s Workout Reserve each individual
Runs until 10-30% of workout reserve (aerobic&SE) or if feeling great go longer…
Runs until 10-30% when running hiit or if feeling good let the friendly competition push themselves and hit new records -%…
Using WR real time during workouts is a great way to push limits without overdoing it.
I think you are onto something and all it really takes is communicating “this weekend we are doing your hill Vo2max session; or this weekend we will run long. Everyone then has wr on their watch and calls it quits when their individual WR is approaching 10-30% or close to 0 if feeling comfortable…
Why 10-30% you may ask? I find this range usually close matches where I start feeling the effort real-time without pushing it too far - and having to spend longer time recovering from the session.
well, this would work great I assume
Thanks for the idea, but as I tried to point out, letting Athletica helping us to schedule and plan those sessions for a group, should be doable and in my opinion could be a great feature
