Hi there,
Not sure if this is a question. Perhaps an observation?
Im preparing a 96K ultra run 18/1, and I was wondering, “when” will the hard core training start? Im scrolling through upcoming weeks and 71K is maximum distance, combining all distances in one single week. The longest single session is 27K.
I admit, Im a bit surprised. Any thoughts on this? Im sure thats the design of the program. FYI, yesterday I completed a 27K trail run event. Ive been following the program for some time now, and I felt surprisingly energetic throughout.
Cheers!

Hey @the-primal-swede
Thanks for this question! Context… Are you still biking as well? Remember those long hours on your bike will be aiding you to build that aerobic engine of yours.
Since I know a little bit of your background, not completely new to running, but ultra 96k is a new experience to you, and a bit of a knee injury in recent history (which I know you are taking care of with strength, yay!). I would be really careful extending your longer runs super long and instead of focusing on frequency and aiming to increase weekly total mileage that way.
You can’t really bust out a 90k single run in your training. It will take so much time to recover, even with your amazing fitness, and the risk of getting injured is just so high with super long runs. What are your thoughts on that?
You just did 27K on trails. that’s awesome. I would see if I could extend that a little bit more, but not so much that it takes many days to recover. How are you recovering from the trail race?
