Sean Sakinofsky podcast

I recently listened to the podcast with Sean Sakinofsky (SALT + WATER = LONG Ride Without Problems) on endurance rides without fuelling & was very curious around the science behind this. From the little I understand the evidence behind fasted cardio (which is the closest I could find) was inconclusive as to the benefits, what’s the science here on endurance &/or fasted cardio?
