Ai doesn't respond to unplanned Workouts

Hello,

yesterday I did an unplanned bike ride, since the weather was quiet nice and a friend asked to do a chill Z1/Z2 ride.

When I look into my training plan, the ride is indeed in there as unplanned but the plan itself doesn’t change around it. It just gives me a warning now, that I’m in risk of overtraining, but still sticks to it.

Usually was a MAF run test scheduled yesterday, it was on missed then. I dragged it to today but there is also an FTP test scheduled today which of course would definetly be to much.

Does it just take a bit more time for the plan to change?

I also had a swim test on Monday which I didn’t do, because I found out about the app after I was at the pool. I deleted it then, in the hope the Ai puts it in the “perfect” place a few days later but nothing happened.

Does the plan even change on it’s own?

Kind regards,
Keanu

Hello @Kert

I think we need to get clear on expectations
Your ride was marked as unplanned because it was unplanned and that’s totally ok. However, the original test week is still planned, and those are the key workouts for the week - the purpose is to calibrate your intensity zones. The only thing the system can do then is to give you a warning - “hey, consider moving sessions, delete etc” . It is up to you to move, delete or miss them.

You can save your test week tests to your library and move them to another week - I would prioritize FTP and 5KTT (if triathlete or runner) and move MAF tests for another time.

About the missed swim test. Since you deleted the session, you can either regenerate the plan and start with the test week again, or create it manually from this example

The plan changes, but perhaps not exactly the way you are expecting it to.

As you train, and execute the planned sessions, it will start adjusting the plan going forward, either adding a bit more load in terms of time or intervals, OR downregulates the load so you don’t get overtrained/injured/ill. The system really loves consistent training without massive heroic workouts or many days taken off. The changes are subtle, and continuous overnight calculations happen. If you delete a session, it will not magically re-appear. YOU as an athlete have to make the decision whether or not a certain session fits into your schedule.

Please let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to discuss.

Best, MJ
