I would like to bring another athlete into the Athletica world but am not certain whether it can manage the variability of riding that this athlete does. She is currently doing skill development on the cross bike Wednesdays, Mountain bike fun on Saturdays and Long Ride (Gravel or Road) on Sundays. In some cases she has power, in other only heart rate. Is this athlete able to effectively use Athletica or is her inputs to variable? @Marjaana
Which rides have power?
Just her road bike. I think the big challenge is that she is focused on qualifying for gravel worlds. So a lot of time will be on the gravel bike especially through the winter. She is not fond of the trainer.
That is an amazing goal. Here’s my thoughts:
MTB for fun - metrics don’t really matter that much, if she and her coach are ok with letting go of being able to analyze precisely. Athletica will use HR to calculate load.
Long rides (road/gravel) power would be great, but if these are mostly aerobic, you can prescribe and calculate load from HR data only.
We calculate 1. Power/pace 2. HR 3. RPE. If power is not available, then HR, if HR is not available, then RPE (overall RPE for the session - but then it is not as precise as I’m sure RPE varies within the workout). All workouts will have a load calculation.
Would be great if the gravel bike had power meter as well.
Best, MJ
