Bike workout wrongly prescribed by heart rate instead of power on Wahoo

Yesterday I did my 30/30 bike intervalls on the indoor trainer. Despite having the setting put to prescribe bike workouts by power my Wahoo Bolt showed a heart rate range as a target. Target power was not available (as in picture 1). That made it very difficult to hit the correct power as prescribed by the workout. I had to pedal at a very high cadence to hit my power target.

reported thanks @Matthias and we’ll have a look

@Matthias we aren’t familiar with Wahoo so we’ll need help here from yourself or the community.

When we view your Wahoo settings, we see it set to ‘Auto’. It looks to us that the files should be coming through to Wahoo with both HR and Power targets. As mentioned, we’re not familiar with Wahoo devices personally, but perhaps there’s a way to toggle.

Assistance from any users appreciated.

After looking at the screenshot, I started to suspect that the hover text in Athletica might just be incorrect. As you can see, the icon I had selected shows just a heart symbol, but when I hover over it, the tooltip says: “Prescribe workouts by heart rate (run) or power (bike).” Strangely, when I hover over the second icon (heart and bolt), I get the exact same text.

Following a wrongly targeted 30/30 session, I switched my settings from the third icon (just the heart) to the second one (heart and bolt). I’ll keep you updated to see if this setting change has any effect during my next indoor ride.

Apart from that I haven’t seen any other Wahoo settings where workout targets are set to “auto,” but based on your recommendations, I assume a 30/30 HIIT session should ideally be prescribed by power, whereas a low-intensity session would be better suited for heart rate targeting.
