Thanks for helping out. I’ve been out on a long distance ride past three days. I’m in middle of some major updates to the field. This is actually a bug in the Android version of Garmin Connect IQ. Hoping to see if I can get a workaround for it, without impacting iPhone. That’ll come out with the more major updates.
@Phil I just tried installing WR on a new Forerunner 965 watch from my Android Pixel 8 phone and ran into the same issue. The fix (swapping out the & for a ?) seemed to work, but it makes the installation painful and perhaps unusable for most Android users.

The bug is not in the datafield but in the Android version of the Connect IQ app. The iPhone Connect IQ app does not have the bug. I raised a bug report on 9th May which they acknowledged at the time. I have just chased for an update from them. But they are not that communicative on their progress in fixing bugs.
My main event is imminent. Once that’s out the way, if I haven’t got an update from Garmin. Then I’ll have see if there’s a work round that doesn’t break iPhone. But since the bug is in Garmin’s own Android Connect IQ app, it’s not something that’s easy to overcome.
I wish the bug was actually in the datafield code. Then at least I’d have full agency over its resolution.
Any expectations on when the data field will be supported on the Edge 1050. Just got mine in

Edge 1050 support will come with next release which I’m hoping will be end of July or early August. It’d be earlier but my main event sees me away for two weeks from next week. The life of ultra / brevet length events.
My back now feels good enough to head off to my main event and start. My test 600km ride went well. But as always if I detect a problem mid event I’m not afraid to pull the plug. Long term health is always the priority.

Bit later than planned, but the Edge 1050 has now been added into my next round of testing.
How are you finding the new Edge. Does it have one of those super bright Amoled screens?
Thanks! The 1050 is brilliant Both in usage and in readability in any conditions. I have never turned it up to full brightness.
Has anyone noticed any issue with the Workout Reserve field on their watch? I am using a Garmin 965, and I have noticed in the last week or so that the field is resetting when I go from looking at one screen to another and then back. I also noticed this in my results, as, for example, today, the workout itself showed an mWR of 12%, whereas on my watch, the lowest it showed was 93.5%.
@Phil I’m not sure if it is a “me” issue or not, but I’m noticing that the CIQ is not updating the WR profile on my FR965 watch or Edge 530 bike computer any more. I have tried reinstalling on both devices and it syncs the first time, but not thereafter.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
I have done multiple runs since 13 Nov. and waited patiently for the Connect IQ sync before starting, but to no avail:
I can’t see any crash logs that would explain that. The live Connect IQ code has remained stable for the past 9 months.
My Edge Explore 2 just keeps updating each morning I turn it on, but then it is running the new version of the data field which I hope to get live this side of Christmas.
I think you’re running an Android phone aren’t you? I’m running an iOS phone. If anyone else does report in with same problem, it’d be interesting to see if it’s an Android issue. The WR profile update goes through the phone Garmin Connect app .
Since it’s only the last week, I’d ask yourself what have you changed if anything? Any firmware updates, any new IQ fields added, any settings changes etc? The data field has not changed in 9 months, so seems odd something would just start happening.
There are no crash reports for a FR965 at all, going all the way back to the last release in Feb.
@Phil Now that you mention it, I believe that there was an update to my 965 but that was after the issue appeared. My current software is showing as 21.18.
Can I ask what screens you were switching between? Both data screens, a glance, something else?
The Edge 1050 is now compatible with the datafield and can be installed.
Is support for the Enduro 3 planned for the near future?
