New to Athletica, Training for an Olympic in 1.5 months, 2.5 week long bike event in the middle of training

So, I plan to do an Olympic-distance Triathlon on June 9th. The problem I have is I am doing a 2.5-week-long charity ride from May 7th to May 25th across Florida. Currently, I have the triathlon I am training for in Athletica. How do I tell it I won’t be able to train during those dates? I will be biking an average of 70 miles a day each day, but probably limited running and no swimming.

My guess is I just delete those days of workouts and Athletica will just replan based on my recorded biking workouts throughout the duration of the event. So when I am done it will replan based on my activities (Cycling for the 2 weeks straight).

Yes you can just let the plan run as is. Or you can manually add biking average 70miles each day for the duration of your event so it matches your bike rides with planned rides.. keeping ai coach “happy”. How to add? Just hit the plus sign :plus:. Fill in the pop up. Then click on the 30mins and edit the details in a new pop up. Delete 39
Mins and use your estimated distance .
Save.
In your training calendar view, click on the three dots of that workout and choose “save your to library”. You can then add this workout from your library to each day you are biking,
Delete all swims and runs.
Or third option is to “go unscheduled “ in your training settings and chose the duration for 2 weeks.
Enjoy your adventure!

I am also participating in a two-week-long charity ride called COPS Cycling for Survivors, and I used your advice to add a ride date for each of the two weeks of the ride, then edited the 30 minutes to the mileage we should be riding that day. However, when I did that, the new mileage listing did not show as the minutes did. And, I cannot get back to edit the details as I cannot select the listing either. I’m not sure if this is a bug, so hoping you could take a look and advise what the issue is or what I did wrong? Thanks!

I will add that if you look at the Athletic.ai App, it shows the rides, and if you click on the ride itself, you can see the details.

Reading this now after some time lol. I am also in Indiana, at Purdue for one more year. Hope your ride goes well, finished my trek last month and ended up just not tracking as i barely had time to open my phone we were so busy. Data synced to atheltica, just didnt pay much attention to it other than my fitness skyrocketing lol.

@fekieser my apologies for not replying to you. I cannot see your planned multi-day race in your plan.

looks like you changed it?

MJ

Thank you for looking! I will try it again and let you know if it is an issue any further.

Thanks!!

@Marjaana Coach MJ

I added back a day on July 7th and still the same. Once I add and then edit from 30mins to 70 miles the info does not show up correctly.

I added same ride to July 8th so you can see what it looks like before updating from 30 mins to 70 miles.

To change I tap the entry and set MS as 70 miles and save.

Am I doing something wrong? Please feel free to try changing it yourself if it helps.

Thanks!

Same thing happens to me. I’ve reported this with the team. Will keep you posted. Sorry for the trouble!

@fekieser Are you trying to do as below? Forget the hiking ones those were just my first tests.

@Phil
I’m looking to show that I have a 70 mile ride planned for the day. Other than yours in kilometers versus miles for me, what you are showing is what I think mine should look like. I have never added an unplanned ride to the system before so I’m not totally sure what it would look like to be honest though. Once it is working I will need to do it for the next 11 days from July 7th then.

Thanks!

It’s what I’ve been doing for adding in my cycle tours etc. I add them using the plus button, and set them as bike and aerobic aim. I add something in description.

Then I tap on the 30 minute section and edit it to the distance or duration I want. Then tap save once, then once again. If it’s a regular thing I’ll be adding I also tick the box to save to my session library,

The only problem with distance I’ve seen is that it doesn’t calculate an estimated load. If that’s important put the approximate duration you think each day will take.

@Phil @Marjaana
That is exactly what I had been trying to do and it would not work. When I change to the miles it would just hide the data. Coach MJ had the same issue I believe when she looked at it.

With that being said, I did try it this morning and it is working now so I’m not sure what changed, but it is working I have all the days updated without issue. So, if a change was made to the system, it worked. If no change made, well it is working so no need I guess. Lol

Thanks again!!

It was fixed by our developer :slightly_smiling_face: however, to calculate proper load, it is best we use estimated time, not distance :wink:
