I have a goal of a 5k run and a one day bike race (140 km) scheduled. Currently I have set my sport to running and have the 5k as my A-priority goal.
Which sport should I choose in athletica? If I set it to duathlon it want‘s me to set a duathlon goal, but the 5k and bike race are 2 Months apart. What‘s the best setting to get a plan for both the bike race and the 5k run?
Hello Matthias, sorry for the late reply! With that distance in the bike race, I would set the program for cycling. Then I would do a short 30-minute run once a week on a short aerobic development day. Don’t forget to get some strength training and yoga/mobility work in as well to keep you strong and stable.

You may consider using the duathlon plan and set it to middle distance race. (of course fictional, but at least you’ll get both bikes and runs planned each week).
Why duathlon plan? Because I believe that for running, you really need to be running consistently. Taking too much time off from running, and you’ll feel like you’re starting from square 1 again. With your A race as running race too, I’d go for the duathlon plan. Biking will increase your overall endurance and fatigue resistance and help you with running too.
You may want to mentally think of the tempo and threshold runs as your key workouts until you race day, and then switch to those aerobic and race pace effort bike rides after your 5K race. Extend those longer rides to 140k so you are well prepped for the race.

Thank you for your reply. I‘ve currently set my sport to triathlon after I posted this question. I’ve asked the AI chatbot on the Atletica AI website and it told me to set to sport to triathlon and delete the swim sessions.
The 140 km bike race is in the middle of June and the 5k is at the end of September. I just finished my test week in Athletica. Would you keep the settings as they are and just keep on deleting swim sessions or rather change the plan to duathlon and let Athletica recalculate the plan without doing the test week again?
I guess with the sport set to duathlon I need a fictional duathlon event in my calander? I‘ve done the same with a fictional triathlon event, again because the chatbot told me so.
Honestly, what you have set up now looks pretty good IMO. After your cycling event, I see the fitness numbers plateau a bit. I would do a re-generation of the plan after your bike race, and either use triathlon plan or duathlon plan, and instead of deleting the swim, use the Workout Wizard to change the mode to run or bike. I would also prioritize harder efforts Running if your legs can take it. You are young, so you’ll probably gain from being running specific and doing hard efforts running, so you get that running specific work done for your 5K race.
