Hey @TylerC it looks like you moved your run tests around for next week - the perfect thing to do! Let us know if you have any other questions.
Hey Joe; not sure youāve gotten an answer yet⦠but test weeks is typically scheduled for second week of when you start a new plan. Not sure why it wasnāt promted when you started in December. My hot tip is to save the test workouts into your own library, then you can pull them from there and insert whenever you think is a good time to do the test.
As you move along with your training, youāll notice when itās time to test again as workouts that felt hard before start to feel easier.
Also, make sure not to āskip test weekā when you generate new plan.
Hope this helps

Hello Marjaana. Prof Laursen did review my training plan. The reason for no inital test week was that my first āCā level event was too soon from when I first started with this annual training plan. After removing a planned race, a test week was populated for next week. Thank you very much for following up. All the best, Joe.
Hey, Athletica team! Iām finishing up my test week and running into what I think is an issue. I did my FTP Test on Thursday and ended up with a 268, which is pretty much exactly what I expected. So I figured all was well.
I then did the Power Profile test this morning after a poor nightās sleep. My short power was in the ballpark, but my legs didnāt have much in them for the 4 and 10 minute segments, so I pushed as hard I could but wasnāt as strong as it wouldāve been otherwise.
Then when I finished the test, I got a VT2 update from 268 all the way down to 219. Iām guessing this was based on my lower-than-expected 10 minute power, but that seems like quite a dramatic swing for two days. Is the model maybe too sensitive?
I exported the workout to Zwift and did it pretty much exactly, but got a message from the AI Coach that I was working above threshold with an FTI of 112%, and that I exceeded the planned load by 81%. I accepted the updated VT2 value, so did it apply it retroactively and end up with significantly higher values?
Iām planning to set the FTP value back up to 268 moving forward, but wanted to check in and get a better sense of how everything works.
Here are the screenshots:
Hi @FergusYL ,
Thanks for reporting that. Indeed, please change it back. Weāre in the middle of a process to convert VT2 (FTP) over to Critical Power as per this blog. So indeed, the power profile you did isnāt set up correctly to determine your CP/FTP. It will be within a few weeks.
Sorry for the hassle. Important change happening and weāre in the midst of it.
Best,
Paul
That all sounds good. And count me in if you need another beta tester!
Thanks @FergusYL . Happy to add you to the team. Please DM me here and provide name/email and Iāll get you on the beta program.
Best,
Paul
Hello Athletica team! I did a prescribed 5K time trial test last week and then changed my training plan a few days after the test. The MAF test then disappeared from the plan for that week. Athletica is now prescribing a new test week next with another 5K time trial and MAF test.
Do I need to redo the 5K test or can I skip and just do the MAF test?
Thanks!
Hey there,
Welcome to the Athletica team, and to the forum as well! When you did your 5K TT last week, Athletica should have saved your threshold pace and HR. Can you check that for me on your settings? Do they make sense to you?
Under your settings, toggle the āskip test weekā and regenerate your plan. Hit Save and Update Training Plan and it will regenerate your plan.
Hi Marjaana,
Thanks! The threshold pace and HR are correct. Iāve regenerated the plan.
Do I not need to do the MAF test for Athletica to generate the best plan?
Thanks again for your help!
No problem!
MAF test is at the moment more for you to track over time. I would do it. You could schedule it by saving it to your library and bringing it in every few months instead of any aerobic run session.
Let me know if you have questions about the MAF test.
Best, Marjaana
A couple observations from the 5K TT running test workout.
Smart Coach prescribed HR for the test but for a 5K TT I donāt know if a prescription is necessary. I was bothered by my Garmin that my HR was too low for about 1K which is OK, more motivation but not necessary.
For the cool down, I see in Athletica the HR prescription is 89 to 146 which is OK, but for some reason my Garmin 955 interpreted this as 122 to 124 which is too narrow, obviously. Iām not sure if this is a Garmin issue or Atheletica issue but thought Iād mention it in case others have seen the same.
Hi all!! Iāve got a bit of a dubt regarding HR Threshold on test 5Km run.
This value is determinated considering the peak HR rate or the average HR rate during the 5km?
average heart rate in final 10 min of 5k test
I tried to do the 5k test but my Garmin kept saying heartrate was too high and it kept starting new laps randomly. So I had to scrap it. Is there something else I should be doing?
Hey there,
Did you give your best shot for the 5k? If so, Athletica will take that data and use it for calculations of your threshold and intensity zones. Please disregard what Garmin says.
Make sure to update Garmin zones in your Garmin profile to match Athletica.
If you followed garminās advice and slowed down, please do the rest again and turn off Garmin notifications so they donāt distract you
Hope this helps
MJ
Thanks @Marjaana. I didnāt complete a 5k with all the starting over but yes it was my best effort if you can use that for now. I checked Garmin and donāt have any alerts for high heart rate coming from it. So is it possible the hear rate limit is coming from Athletica?
Yes could be from athletica if you used the workout import. I would do the 5k test without any guidance from watch and just aim to do your best effort. itās hard, but I love
it !
Ok, you mean add the data manually after itās done?
Sorry if I was unclear.
You can sync all Athletica workouts to your Garmin watch. I would NOT do that for the 5K run so you are not getting those annoying peeps if your HR drifts outside the target zones.
Just start the watch, do your run, then your data will be imported to your Athletica account. No need to manually import
