Training load measurements

How is the training load calculated ? does it take into account the selected prescription ?

In my base plan phase I usually train by HR, anyway it seems that the training load is evaluated over power/pace. That could lead to inconsistent report if HR and power/pace zones don’t overlap.

Is that true ?

Hey @thekappe
Welcome to athletica!
Training prescription is either done by HR or power/pace depending on what you chose when you signed up and generated your plan.
A good rule of thumb is going by your Hr when doing aerobic sessions and by power/pace when doing intervals due to hr response lag.

It is super important that you do the test week to calibrate your individual zones. I see from the other thread you did your MAF test. Once you do your Critical Power or FTP test, athletica has a better picture of your capacities and your training intensity zones are updated.

Training load I believe is based on power/pace or HR and last source RPE if nothing else is available.

We are currently doing major changes including the way AI coach feedback is provided so please be patient as we roll out these changes.

There’s also a great help&education source if you want to go into details how load is calculated.

Hope this helps, MJ

Heu @Marjaana !

got it. I was confused as usually in TP (which I used before) you can switch (manually) the TSS (training stress score) based upon your workout prescription.

eg: if I did the workout using either power or pace I select TSS otherwise hrTSS.

It would be nice having your AI adjusting the TSS by the prescribed metric.

As I am in a base plan and probably the power/pace zones and HR doesn’t overlap, doing the workouts using HR leads to a higher amount of power/pace Z1 and hence having the AI report complaining about an intensity lower than the one being prescribed.

I’ll see if it fixes a little bit after my first test week (as you’ve suggested in the other post)

Thanks a lot

F
