Training Plan Not Preparing Me for Time Trial Event

I’m reviewing my plan and something is not adding up. I have a 21 mile cycling hill climb time trial on my calendar, but my training plan does not seem to be preparing me for it, or am I really missing something. There’s virtually nothing on there that would extend my TTE (or WR or W’) appropriately for this event. The longest threshold (Z3b or Z4) interval on my plan is 10 minutes, maybe.

It’s set up as a B event on a Duathlon training plan, but there are no events within a month of it in either direction. Just really surprised, and would like to know if there’s a way to tweak the prioritization?

Frankly, what I’d really like to do is set up a plan without a duathlon (that I won’t be doing) but have concurrent training for cycling and running, for which I have events throughout the season, but I don’t see a way to do that …

Maybe I’m wrong, and this will turn out to be a great plan for this event, but I’d think at least a few 2x20’s to even 3x20’s in there would make some sense …

Hi @Sloansteddy ,
I’ve had a look at your plan. Based on what you write, I would consider re-starting your plan after your half-marathon event in April and call your cycling hill time trial event an A race - call yourself a cyclist at this point. That will give you 5 weeks or so of focus on time trial specific sessions. Of course, I would leave your plan as is until after your half-marathon but at that point in your recovery week is when I’d switch things up. My 2c.

I was thinking about doing something like that. One question though, will it program running along side cycling if I put cycling as my discipline? I thought it would only do that if I put down duathlon? Or maybe there’s a way to add secondary sports that I missed?

I would hope that by the time you change your settings for that race that the daily availability bugs will be solved and you’ll be able to schedule runs alongside your bike plan
